Baby Bump: Week 33

I’m sure feeling him this week! Stretching and punching and kicking and moving all around… you’d think there was a boxer inside of me! The weather has officially turned summer and I’m cookin, although I’m hoping he gets here before it gets REALLY warm outside. At least our air conditioner works well!

I got the Tdap shot this week at my doc visit and that really did not sit well with me as I got flu-like symptoms the day after and couldn’t get off the couch. I got to work and instantly felt like I needed to lie down, then my forehead started to sweat and I felt like I was either going to pass out or throw up. So I went into the stock room to sit down and drink some water, of course it didn’t get better. I went home and slept for 2 hours, then laid on the sofa for the rest of the day with aches and pains and my head spinning. Crazy stuff! Nick and the grandparents have to get the shot too and I really hope my symptoms are because I’m pregnant, otherwise they are in for it!

The “practice contractions” have started. There have been a few where I have to sit down and start my lamaze breathing. The others are just a tightening of the belly, mostly at the top or when our little guy sticks his bum out. Its such strange feeling.

I’ve been getting a lot of compliments though, those make me feel great! I say I’m due in 7 weeks and they look at me like “really?”. You need those, especially when you are pregnant!

Nick is finishing up the nursery. He got the new window sills in and the baseboards are in. They just need some caulking and paint and then we can put everything back together. The only thing left will be the mobile which we need to make. That will be priority #1 the first weekend in June. Hurray! I can’t wait! {photos to come!}

Baby Bump: Week 32

Only 8 more weeks to go! I officially have “fat feet” as they get swollen on a daily basis. I can only do so much before I have to sit down and put my feet up. So yes, I have “Kankles”! The other day, I got a foot in the stomach and it was pretty painful. He is still getting hiccups daily, sometimes 2-3 times a day. I’ve been told its a good thing as he’s practicing his breathing and thats what gives him hiccups, but I feel bad for the guy when he gets them. I am having a hard time breathing at night as I have shortness of breath and my nose gets clogged. Thats just what happens during pregnancy. Fun, right? Although if thats the worst of it, I’ll take it!

Today we had our birthing preparation class and boy did we learn a lot! Most of our questions and wondering has been answered, we were able to ask questions that arose and now we know.. basically.. what is going to happen. There are so many scenarios based on every person, but at least we know the gist. We first learned bout the anatomy and how the body looks before and during pregnancy. Basically, everything gets squished when baby is this big. Thats why I am having trouble breathing and going to the bathroom. Then we learned about all of the steps of labor and watched a video on a natural birth from start to finish. Yes, I cried when the baby came out, it just hit me. Nick said he got teary eyed too… we are just going to be a mess of joy when our little man comes! haha! Then we learned the different birthing positions and ways to relieve contraction pain and get ready for birth, along with the different breathing techniques. This part was very interactive as we got to move around the room and try breathing in the position. It was nice to see what was comfortable and seemed to work best, and what didn’t feel so great {like the squatting techniques were a little uncomfortable}. Who knows when the times comes though, right? At least we have somewhat of a plan! After that, we learned about the different medications; their pro’s, con’s and uses. This information was helpful as I didn’t even know what was possible and why they are used. I have just heard from my friends what they went with. Finally, we went over the Cesarian Section… which to our surprise happens with 30% of births with very few planned. Nick and I just figure we need to prepare ourselves for this option in case something goes wrong during vaginal delivery. Hopefully it doesn’t though!

We really want to have a yard sale and get rid of a ton of stuff! Our basement is full of what Nick likes to call “crap” and I’m starting to agree with him. Plus that might help pay for diapers… makes sense, right? We might try to have on in June, but it really depends on how I am feeling. I was told you get some energy a few weeks before delivery, so this could be the prime time to clean stuff out!

We are still working on the nursery. Just a few things are left like hanging the wall art, the mobile we are making and Nick needs to replace the window sills and finish the base boards. We plan to be completely done in a few weeks. I do need to run the laundry and get everything folded nicely in the dresser, make the bed and hang little t-shirts/onesies.

Bryan and Tracie Murray had their little boy, Hudson Keith on 5/17 born at 3:50am – 8 lbs. 6 oz. 20.5 inches long and he is so adorable! Congratulations to them and we are so excited for Hudson and Baby Stewart to be Best Friends!

Happy Mother’s Day!

I am such a lucky girl to be celebrating Mother’s Day as a mommy-to-be!  I feel so blessed to have this little man on his way and feeling the joy of motherhood even before his grand entrance into this world!

Mothers Day 2014

A special Happy Mother’s Day to my mom, Grandma Harvey and Grandma Petersen. For without these wonderful women, I would not be here today!

My mom is the best mom EVER, and I’m not just saying that because she is my mom! She is so fun, loving and caring. She has been there when I have needed her every time and goes above and beyond to make sure her kids are happy, healthy and well taken care of. I can never thank her enough for being such a wonderful mom! She has nurtured and inspired me my whole life and now that I am approaching motherhood I can use everything she’s taught me! I love you mom with all my heart!

I miss my Grandma Harvey every day! Love you grandma!

My most wonderful and thoughtful husband got me my first Mother’s Day gift and completely caught me by surprise! I’ve been wanting a watch like this for a few years now and its so special coming from him for this day! xoxo!

Baby Bump: Week 30

Well I’m officially ¾ the way through! I’m a little late on this post this week because I’ve been working like a mad man and haven’t had a second to take my photo. But we are leaving to go out of town this weekend, so this week and next week are combined :).

I definitely think the “good night sleep” days are officially over. I’ve been waking up every night not only having to pee, but with weird half-awake/half-asleep dreams, shortness of breath and hot flashes. It doesn’t help either with the weather changing, as a few nights were in the 70’s and we had to run the air conditioner. I just make up for the sleepless nights with naps during the day, which have been happening on a regular basis. {Chant: “I love naps”! “I love naps”!}

We graduated from somersaults to punching, kicking and rolling over in my belly. One side of my belly will really bump-out and become hard, I think its his butt sticking out. Its crazy because you can push on it and feel him move.

Nick had his “Daddy Bootcamp” class and learned so much! He had so much to tell me about, things I didn’t even know, so its definitely a good thing he went! Our next class is the breastfeeding class and I’m looking forward to learning as much as I can. Then we have the Birth Preparation class next Saturday. Fun fun fun!

My doctor visits have gone from once a month to every 2 weeks. I’m really sad the ultrasounds are no-longer as I love seeing my little guy. But they say its a good thing as they only do ultrasounds in the 3rd trimester when they think something might be wrong… so its bittersweet! I guess the next time I “see” him, will be in person and that will be worth it all!

I’ve been working on the nursery like its my job! I really want it DONE by June 1st, so we have no worries about it if he comes early. The baby dresser is finished being re-finished and the rocker FINALLY came! I’m so excited as its really starting to come together!

We still have a lot to do. Nick needs to replace the trim around the doors, window sills and finish the base boards. In the meantime, I’m working on the adorable collage going on the wall above the dresser and making the mobile above the crib. Can’t wait to see the finished product!

Find of the week: wood carved owl drawer knobs from Hobby Lobby at 50% off! Wait until you see them on the dresser… AMAZING!

Counting down the days… only 63 days to go {thats if he arrives on his due date}.
